About the Yo-Yo

Who are you?
Wife.  Mother.  Daughter.  Sister.  Friend.  No matter how you slice it, I’m still Iva and I’m still not ‘quite right’ as they say down here in the South.

I am currently working as a special education para professional (teacher’s aid) in an extreme and proufound self-contained classroom.  This is my first year and I absolutely love it.  I love the woman I work with – she has been a wonderful mentor for me.  My children are fantastic.  Each one of them have wonderful personalities.  I’ve really grown as a person this past year having known them.  I’ll be sad when two of them go on to the high school next year.

Before I worked in the school system, I was a homeschooling stay at home mom.  I am a huge homeschooling advocate – but adore working in the school system.  I realize that the public school system has it’s fault (some would say many), but I love the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life who would otherwise not have that chance.

It is because of this passion that I’ve decided to go back to school to get my Bacholor’s degree in Education/Special Education.  Being a para pro is great; but I’d love to teach.

Juggling life as a wife, mother, para pro and (soon to be) student isn’t easy.

Join me in me in my not-so-general ramblings on life, work, faith, and everything in between.

I have divided up my blog into three categories based on my two other blogs:

GENERAL: Every day ramblings.

LIFE ACCORDING TO IVA: Work-related ramblings.

FAC: Weight loss related ramblings.

  1. Iva,
I just read through your Christian posts and left a comment. They were great! We homeschooled our six kids for some of the years, did private school, and public. I am a private school teacher. I give you a lot of credit for going into special ed. I am going to follow your blog – I like it!

  2. Hi! This post could not be written any better! Reading this post reminds me of my good old room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this page to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!
